BUSHWICK “Organic” is one of the more controversial terms tossed about by the new foodies – unlike the relatively straightforward “local,” “preservative-free,” or “seasonal,” the definition of “organic” has undergone a battering over the years. On Thursday, the Bushwick Food Coop is hosting a screening of What’s Organic About “Organic”?, a film that strives to delve into the true meaning of the term and why it’s so important for agricultural sustainability. The film night, which is taking place at Brooklyn Fireproof, includes free wine and food tastings, as well as popcorn and snacks for sale; following the screening, guest speaker Ben Flanner, the head farmer from organic rooftop farm Brooklyn Grange, will be discussing the issues raised in the film.
