Summer officially arrives this week and what better way to celebrate than by taking advantage of two classic Coney Island institutions: the annual Mermaid Parade and opening day for the Brooklyn Cyclones. Starting at 2pm, take in the costumes and craziness that is the nation’s largest art parade before heading over to see our very own sluggers take on the Staten Island Yankees at 6:30. Tickets to the game start at just $8, and include fireworks and a pregame performance by the Tony-winning Million Dollar Quartet. For those who need a little more sustenance than funnel cake provides, Ditmas Park’s Sycamore is hosting a tailgate party from 12-6pm.
