In genius lit-nerd-meets-Friday-night-out news, WORD is kicking off a new monthly series this Friday called “Literary Karaoke.” Its concept is as simple as its name: show up at 6:30pm prepared with a three-minute passage from your favorite book, sign up, and wait for your shot at literary glory. A theme will be announced for every month; this time, it’s “Greatest Hits of the 90s,” so start honing your Nick Hornby, Stephen King, or, for added thematic value, Harry Potter skills now. Like all the best karaoke bars, this event is BYOB.
