The Brooklyn Arts Council has commissioned a moving tribute of 9/11–quite literally–that asks participants to to walk through 10 interactive art installations from the Pearl Street Triangle to Dock Street in Dumbo on Saturday. Between 11am and 5pm, you’ll encounter stations like Illegal Art’s “Indelible Memory,” where you’ll be asked to dip two fingers into a pot of grey indelible ink; as it fades, the stains will inspire reflection on the lasting impact of the twin towers’ disappearance. At “Botanical Memory,” a scented satchel-making station from Friendly Falcons, participants will fill packets with herbs that carry symbolic meanings, to keep or to give away as a reminder of the positive qualities that 9/11 brought out in people. The journey ends with a walk through a decorated doorway that you can close behind you.
