Tuesday marks the release of the latest book from one of our most celebrated writers-in-residence, Jonathan Lethem. Lethem, best known for critically-acclaimed novels Motherless Brooklyn and Fortress of Solitude, is a native Brooklynite whose work often depicts the borough as a complex character instead of a mere setting for the story. BookCourt is hosting a launch party at 7pm for The Ecstasy of Influence: Nonfictions, Etc., a collection of new and previously-published essays covering a diverse range of topics such as graffiti, 9/11, Norman Mailer, book touring, Bob Dylan and, of course, our fair borough. Although the event is free, you should plan to get there early as Lethem’s presence guarantees a crowd.
