Sold to the Highest Bidder

Ever wanted to check out an auction like they have in the movies, but think you don’t have the bank account for it – or just not interested in dusty old art? Don’t miss your chance to check out a live auction complete with a fast-talking auctioneer this Thursday, when Film Biz Recycling gets behind the gavel to sell some really cool – and budget-friendly – items from sets of productions in NYC. For the uninitiated, Film Biz Recycling is one of the most innovative nonprofits we’ve heard of – they take props and other items from sets that would otherwise go to waste and repurpose them by donating to charity and selling them through their prop store. Thursday’s event features collections curated by Brooklyn designers like Apartment Therapy’s Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan and Krrb’s Andrew Wagner, as well as auctioneer Al Baker and even live music. The $10 admission supports Film Biz Recycling’s mission, and includes free beer from Brooklyn Brewery and the chance to get dollar tacos from Oaxaca.
