Looking for a great, could-only-be-written-by-a-Brooklynite summer read? Emily St. John Mandel’s book The Lola Quartet is an engrossing tale about the divergent paths the members of a high school jazz quartet take, while also featuring Brooklyn mainstays like Barbes and the much-missed Puppets. The book is so un-putdownable that you may find yourself unable to stop reading over the shoulder of the next person you come across reading it. Mandel will be at Greenlight Bookstore this Tuesday, as part of the bookstore’s evening with the publisher Unbridled Books. Mandel is an engaging reader, so it’s definitely an event you won’t want to miss. Don’t believe us?
