Brooklyn is bursting with hidden histories and forgotten stories, making it a never-ending treasure hunt for history lovers like our very own Allison Meier, author of our Brooklyn History series, which includes amazing missives on Coney Island and Green-Wood Cemetery. This Saturday, join Meier on an Obscura Society disaster tour of Green-Wood. That’s right, she’ll guide you through the cemetery’s pastoral landscape to memorials to the catastrophic Brooklyn Theater Fire of 1876, the Malbone Street train crash (93 victims), the 1840 burning of the Lexington steamship, the 1960 Park Slope Plane Crash and more. Tickets are $15 and available here; a portion of the proceeds goes to support the Green-Wood Historic Fund.
