The Brooklyn Botanic Garden held its annual Spring Gala Tuesday night, and in the true spirit of its surroundings, the invitation called for eco-elegant attire. The crowd that gathered for the after party did not disappoint. Despite the deluge of rain, which put a kibosh on plans for cocktails in the rose garden earlier in the evening and hadn’t let up by the time the candles were lit in the main tent later that night, guest turned out in droves–quite a few with flowers in their hair–to drink, dance and revel Midsummer’s Night Dream style in the enchantment of the Cherry Esplanade.
Much of the whimsy of the evening was due to environmental artist Nicole Dextras, whose wearable botanical sculptures were the show-stopper of the night. Check out the slideshow above to see for yourself.
