The late 80s-early-90s phenom Biz Markie is going to be DJing a very special edition of Bowl Train this week at Brooklyn Bowl, but I heard he’s worried you might not make it. Why? Cause all you do is SAY HE JUST A FRIEND! Now that we have that joke out of the way, you should also know that Biz has been a mainstay in the hip-hop scene for the past 20 years for a reason, and unlike other 90s throwbacks, it isn’t due to novelty. He’s been everywhere, done nearly everything, and appeals to nearly everyone, from the kids watching Yo Gabba Gabba!, to the Beastie Boys (and was beatboxing and DJ-ing before his cult single ever hit). And unlike a lot of other DJs out there, his sense of humor isn’t on permanent hiatus when he’s behind the 1’s and 2’s. Tickets are $5 advance, $8 at the door, and available here –-V.R.
