The Americana Way

Brooklyn musician Elisa Flynn has been profoundly influenced by the Anthology of American Folk Music, a collection of songs recorded in the 1920s and 30s that was compiled in 1952 by folklorist and music researcher Harry Smith. The Anthology went on to be a major catalyst for the folk revival that took place in the 60s and continues to have an impact on folk and Americana music today. As a tribute to the Anthology, Flynn has lined up twelve local musicians to join her in performing new interpretations of its songs this Tuesday night at The Way Station. Stop by for a drink and to be exposed to the origins of this American art form.
