Take a Look, It’s All About Books


In addition to the Brooklyn Book Festival, there are a ton of other lit-loving events happening throughout this week. The Debut Book Battle at Bushwick’s Goodbye Blue Monday on Wednesday, features writers will reading from their debut works. Largehearted Lit, the WORD event series that explores the various intersections between music and literature, is returning from their summer vacation this Wednesday and will be celebrating with a reading from Edie Meidav’s newly released Lola, California and a musical performance by Kevin Salem. For more library-related fun, David Rees and Dan Wilbur will judge the Librarian Olympics this Thursday at Union Hall. Name that Novel, Guess That Pseudonym, and Sharpest Pencil a just a few of the events planned for the evening. And Saturday, check out the Emma Straub Hollywood Variety Hour at Public Assembly, with none other than 80s sensitive heartthrob Andrew McCarthy, blogger extraordinaire Maris Kreizman (of Slaughterhouse 90210 internet fame), and This American Life’s Ira Glass in tow.
