Hop into the New Year

By

In the South it’s traditional to eat collards and Hoppin’ John–a black-eyed pea dish cooked with ham hocks–on New Year’s Day. The greens represent wealth, the more you eat the more lucrative the year to come will be, and the Hoppin’ John is all about stocking your larders with luck. If you don’t feel up to the bean soaking, collard washing, and long simmering at home, head to Seeksucker to tuck in. They’ll be serving both as part of a modified New Year’s Day brunch menu, from 10am to 5pm.
