We’re going to go ahead and declare it officially not winter, which can only mean–opening night of Celebrate Brooklyn’s weekly dance parties. And in a truly genius stroke of insight, the folks at BRIC have chosen to kick off their 2013 season with a New Orleans style shin dig, featuring the ‘Noladelic powerfunk’ of Big Sam’s Funky Nation in addition to mainstay DJs of The Freedom Party NYC, because really—what’s better for dancing, good times or banishing blues than the spicy Cajun beats of ‘Nawlins? As always, the dance party is free, located at Pier 1 of Brooklyn Bridge Park and a totally awesome tradition, so get out there and uphold it, ya dig? And if one night of Louisiana-style hot sauce should spark an appetite for more, check out the Bayou N’ Brooklyn music festival happening all weekend long down at the Jalopy Theater. It’s gonna be a hot one.
