Erica Taylor of the event design collective Tinsel & Twine says a lot of her clients describe their dream wedding as “Brooklyn-y.” What that translates to, she says, is “exposed brick, wood beam accents, warm lighting, and a semi-moody tone” — all words you might use to describe 61 Local, a venue that makes a frequent appearance on her couples’ wish list.

The warm and spacious public house has a handcrafted aesthetic to match the craft ales and local food on its menu. It’s not a vintage Brooklyn vibe, but rather a  rather a space that reflects a dedication to local fare, contemporary craft and creativity.

And for creative couples planning an intimate wedding, 61 Local’s mezzanine is a perfect match for small receptions. The space works particularly well for couples who tie the knot next door at the Invisible Dog Art Center.

For a cocktail-style reception, 61 Local’s mezzanine can accommodate 65 to 75 people, with multiple tables for food and tables to sit at plus chairs around the walls, leaving plenty of room to mingle. You can choose from a variety of platters (artisinal cheeses and cured meats, a Mediterranean mezze, antipasti and more); tea sandwiches like grilled asparagus with ricotta & vinaigrette; quinoa salad and other sides; Brooklyn Cured sausage for some heartier fare; and if it’s a morning event, pastries from Bien Cuit.

Those seeking a sit-down, multiple-course meal can use one of 61 Local’s preferred caterers such as Naturally Delicious, though it will trim the head count to 35 seats. In either scenario, 61 Local provides the tables and chairs.

Rental prices are affordable–without an open bar package, the room rents for $200 an hour, and with a private bar and two dedicated 61 Local servers, it’s $400 an hour plus $14/per person, per hour for the open bar. Whatever you choose, 61 Local maintains its appeal, says events manager Cristina Martin,  as a “casual but classy space to gather.”
