We co-curate a monthly storytelling series at Brooklyn Brewery with Tom Shillue, comedian and storyteller extraordinaire. The next one is on Thursday, June 20 at 8:30pm (doors at 8). Tickets cost $10 and include a beer and we’re here to guarantee a delightful evening.
Funny Story is always a hilarious mix of hijinks and weirdos, and a very partial list of past story topics includes getting shaken down by the Mexican police with Michael Stipe, being so high you insist on going to the emergency room because you are dying (no, you’re not), random peeing, barbershop quartets and turning down a chance to watch Louis C.K. masturbate.
And yet, there’s still more to come.
We have some serious storytellers this month. If you’re a fan of food, public access television or the absurd, the name Baron Ambrosia should ring a bell. If it doesn’t, oh boy, spend your afternoon catching up on Bronx Flavor, his amazing, strange and very purple show about everything delicious and alive in the world. This greatest hits montage should give you some idea of what you’re in for.
