The talk of the Yankees and Manchester City bringing another Major League Soccer team to New York isn’t the only news in football. The annual Brooklyn Cup for Kids has grown so large, it’s morphing this year into the newly christened Brooklyn Bridge Cup and Block Party in one, closing down Clermont between Atlantic Avenue and Fulton Street on Saturday to bring in kid-friendly bands from 11 to 3pm, food trucks, and players from the NY Cosmos and NY Red Bulls. Throughout the weekend, over 30 teams of kids ages 7-13 are expected to compete at Brooklyn Tech Field–400 players in all–so it’s possible you’ll be watching the future stars of New York City Football Club.
