This Weekend’s Best Mini Music Festival: Out in the Streets

More than a dozen bands play Out On the Streets, a two-day music and art event at Onderdonk House (1820 Flushing Ave.) in Ridgewood. This isn’t any old street fair, though. The venue is the oldest Dutch colonial stone house in the city and (it was constructed in 1709) and resembles a quaint New England seaside cottage on an acre of former farmland. This may seem an odd venue for diverse artists, such as Denver-based electro producer Pictureplane, Brooklyn psych-rock group Heliotropes and Montreal’s pop-art DJ Doldrums, but art installations by Dash 7 Design and Gabriel Hurier will add to the ambiance. You can grab some Brooklyn food truck eats, like a Korean BBQ short rib taco from from Kimchi Taco or smothered Colombian arepas from Palenque Taco to hold you over between sets. Additional bands include Ava Luna, Friend Roulette, Heavenly Beat and Wild Yaks, and you can purchase a one-day ticket for $12 or a two-day pass for $20. Doors open at 1pm on Saturday and the last act takes the stage at 7pm on Sunday evening.OITS_POSTER_WEB_080113
