It’s hard to miss the red barge floating in Red Hook. Even if you’ve never been aboard the Waterfront Museum Barge, you’ve likely eyed it as you pulled out of Fairway or walked along that sweet waterfront park. Next Thursday, Sept. 19 is a chance to experience how special it is. The vessel–the only all-wooden example of a Hudson River Railroad Barge of its kind that remains afloat and is accessible to the public–turns 100 next year, and The Pirate Ball is a way to celebrate and honor it. As a Deckhand, you’ll get cocktails, delicious food, and dance to DJ Mikey Palms (Public Assembly owner and a former resident DJ of The Rub). As a First Mate, you’ll get to catch the sunset aboard the Waterfront Museum, drink champagne and cocktails, enjoy passed hors d’oeuvres and live music, and then get down at the Pirate Ball. The tax-deductible tickets are on sale here, get ’em while they last.
