CBGB Festival enters its second year with a much bigger bang than the first, including a free concert in Times Square with live bands, interactive installations, rock climbing and a record fair, plus hundreds of bands throughout the week, panels and more than 120 film screenings. Performers range from punk bands like Murphy’s Law to singer/songwriters like Lisa Loeb, while films focus on bands like the Bad Brains, Nirvana, Stone Roses and CBGB original post-punk/funk rockers from the South Bronx, ESG. The festival kicks off on Oct. 8 with the CBGB: The Movie premier and wraps up on Oct. 13 with a day of film screenings at the Wythe Hotel, Anthology Film Archives, Nitehawk Cinema and IndieScreen. Don’t be a punk, or maybe do be a punk, and make sure to get your tickets and badges ahead of time.
