The Meat Hook Meat Book by Brooklyn’s favorite butcher (and my husband) Tom Mylan, is an essential kitchen reference, and, in strange and interesting way, a bit of a Brooklyn history book. I wrote the foreword, about how small food businesses have blossomed here in Brooklyn and can tell you straight-up that this is a weird, awesome, one-of-a-kind jumble of recipes, techniques, stories and absolutely insane graphic design. It will improve your Thanksgiving and barbecue skills, make you laugh and remind you what an amazing place Brooklyn is to live and work. Come celebrate the release at The Brooklyn Kitchen this Thursday, May 15 (yes it’s still this week despite some misleading social media). Tickets are now $5, no book purchase necessary. You can still purchase a book there if you wish and of course, there will be beer and snacks. Tom will sign your copy along with any other ephemera you might want to bring, and any body part you’d like him to grace with a Sharpie. Yes, I’m okay with that. –AG
