Hop the ferry to Governors’ Island this Friday after work, and you can go all in on nostalgia for 80s NYC with a special outdoor screening of Ghostbusters taking place on the Parade Ground lawn. Live music by Theodore Jahng starts at 6pm, the movie begins at dusk, and there will even be a costume contest so get cracking on your best “there is no Dana, there is only Zuul” look asap. The screening is free, as are the beautiful sunset views, and you can get all the info you need here. Looking to stay land-locked? You can still make the awesomeness of your pop culture past a big part of your evening by heading to The Bell House for the skint’s annual Cruel Summer dance party. Get your groove on to all your favorite 80s hits, played by 10-piece cover band The Engagements, and 90s jams spun by DJ Steve Reynolds. The fun starts at 8pm; tickets are $10.
