It seems like every other year or so, someone tries to pull off an epic food festival, an angry backlash ensues, and everyone swears the concept off for a minute or two (remember GoogaMooga, anyone?). This Saturday, the foodie folks behind The Infatuation are giving it the old college try with EEEEEATSCON, a “one-day food experience built in the spirit of a music festival, but with restaurants as the headliners.” I’m personally optimistic about this one because I think Forest Hills Stadium is the right venue for this kind of event, and the lineup of participating restaurants, which includes local faves like Emily, L’Artusi, and Tacoway Beach as well as domestic imports like LA’s Joe & Vinny’s and DC’s Maketto, looks very promising. There are panels scheduled throughout the day, with food-related wisdom from people like Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon, as well as DJs and live music from an Afro-Brazilian percussion group and a New Orleans-style funk brass band. Tickets are $30, the event runs from noon-6pm, and you should note that food and drink needs to be purchased separately and probably bring some cash.
