I’m feeling a Red Hook experience coming on this Saturday, which happens to work out perfectly because there are two new exhibits at Pioneer Works that opened this week: Refiguring Binaries; which explores identity, the body, and the politics of technology; and En El Monte, a site-specific work featuring VR videos that depict the complex history and relationship between Cuba and the United States. Admission to both shows is free, and Pioneer Works is open from noon to 6pm. Afterwards, I’ll probably try to sneak in dinner at Hometown Bar B Que if the line isn’t too long (that beef rib is a dreamboat) and then head to Sunny’s Bar for its weekly Saturday night concert, Tone’s Bluegrass Jam at 9pm.
