Art by Leigh Wells
Reading Jenny Odell’s How to Do Nothing got me thinking about how hard it can be to truly stop, rest, and do nothing. Why are we so obsessed with constantly being—or at least seeming—busy and productive? And how can one do nothing without feeling lazy?
A Think Olio event, Fear of Leisure, will uncover the history around ideas about laziness and explore why we value work over leisure. Professor and philosopher Jeanne Proust will lead the class and discussion, starting at 7:30 on Tuesday, October 22 at Threes Brewing in Greenpoint. Tickets are $15 and include drink discounts at the bar.
