After seeing an acquaintance announce on social media that they are going plastic free, and chatting about waste with friends, I’ve been thinking more about what I can do to cut back. I read Meredith Craig de Pietro’s guide to going zero waste in Brooklyn, and happened to be near the Package Free Store (see the guide) by accident a few weeks ago. That’s where I picked up my shampoo bar and a face oil that I can keep going back to refill!
Going zero waste is a worthy challenge, one that you can learn more about at Zero Waste NYC’s “Zero Waste Practices & The Holiday Season” event on Thursday, December 5. The workshop will introduce you to zero waste practices, with an added focus on the waste we produce during the holiday season. It starts at 6:30pm at Commons Cafe, and tickets are $15.
