After that banger of a Super Bowl Halftime Show last Sunday, I might be more into nationally televised displays of excess and pageantry than I previously thought, and as luck would have it I have the Academy Awards ceremony to look forward to this week. Who cares if you haven’t seen The Joker or 1917, you are no doubt primed and ready for the red carpet watch, which is always more fun with a crowd. If you’re looking for some fellow gawkers with whom to share the experience, there are lots of watch parties happening around town that would be happy to have you. Dumbo’s Time Out Market is hosting a viewing party with Time Out’s Media editors and prosecco, our friends at The Skint have a free screening going on at Littlefield, and Parklife has its own party hosted by comedian Bobby Hankinson just across the way. Finally, the Brooklyn Comedy Collective will have a cadre of comics on hand to provide live commentary at its I’d Like to Thank the Academy watch party starting at 7:45pm.
