Hipster Homemakers

By

There’s nothing Feminine Mystique about the newest batch of homemakers – authors like Kate Payne are proving that there’s a way to be an empowered, independent woman while still enjoying the cozier things in life. Payne’s blog, The Hip Girl’s Guide to Homemaking, has featured DIY tips to make chandeliers out of mason jars, salvage drawers to use as planters, and pickle Brussels sprouts – and that’s just in the past month alone; the eponymous book features even more beginner-friendly homemaker projects. On Monday at Greenlight Bookstore, Payne will be stopping by to lead a simple craft project, as well as to share some homemade food projects and discuss other projects in the book. As an added bonus, some proceeds from the sales of the book will go to the nonprofit New York Writers Coalition.
