If, like me, your most intense period of work in the year is concentrated in last two weeks of December, my guess is that you are a sleep-deprived stressball right now and the weekend can’t come soon enough. Here’s a nice way to kick back at the end of a crazy week to remind yourself that we are, in fact, right in the middle of holiday season: Our favorite bar/flowershop mashup, Sycamore is hosting an evening of booze, blues, and caroling on Friday from 6 to 9pm. Drown your tensions in festive libations like hot toddys or mulled wine, tuck into baked treats from Little Pastry Chef Shop, and relax to live caroling led by live musicians Katie Seiler, Evan Allen, and Emily Pecoraro. Incidentally, Sycamore will also be open on Christmas Day from 4pm-2am, which is a good fact to file away in case you need a ripcord after too many consecutive hours spent with your family.
Meanwhile, at LIC’s Creek and the Cave will present a unique comedy show called The Roast of 2017 on Friday at 10pm. Host Raanan Hershberg, playing Death himself, will bring back all of the celebrities who died this year to roast each other to shreds in front of a live audience. What kind of sick burns would Hugh Hefner, Charles Manson, and Tom Petty fire at each other if given the opportunity? Find out for just $5, which is the cost of admission.
